This is the most comprehensive candy list I’ve seen yet for brand-name candies, both full-sized and minis.
RULE OF THUMB (when you don’t have a list or a scale handy):
Commercial candy is usually about 85-90% carb by weight in grams.
Example: A 6-gram Hershey’s Kiss is about 5 grams of carb. (Compare that with bread at about 50% carb for the weight or most fruits at about 13% carb)
If ever there were a good argument for handing out sugar-free gum at Halloween, this is it!
So eat your candy sparingly and better yet, eat it with a regular balanced meal, especially if you require insulin.
And for all you adults out there–stay away from the candy dish at work! Just 12 Kisses is a full meal’s worth of carb! Save it for the Godiva!
